Raphael Sanzio, Saint George and the Dragon, 1505

Raphael Sanzio, St. George Struggling with the Dragon, 1503-1505

Raphael's works are divided into three periods, his early works, his Florentine period and his Roman period. The first paintings we looked at are his Saint George and the Dragon paintings, both painted during his Florentine period.

We took turns sketiching different parts of the painting.
They said they didn't like his work as much, saying that the dragon looked like a dog and the horse was ill-proportioned, but Quentin, at least, enjoyed sketching from it very much.
