Instant Snow

Have you played with Instant Snow. ?One cap full of the fine powder and a couple ounces of water made this much play snow.

It is soft, fluffy and cool to the touch.

It is flaky, like snow.
Very cool stuff.

To talk about the chemistry behind it, Instant Snow is a polymer called sodium polyacrylate. When a substance of this type is exposed to water, there is more water outside the polymer than inside, so the water wants to move inside through the process called osmosis. It will continue to absorb water until there is an equal concentration of water inside and outside the polymer.
