Preamble to the Constitution
To follow up with our studies of the Revolutionary War, we moved on to talk about how we went about establishing a new government after we had won our Independence from Britain. We talked about the ideas that our founding fathers had for their new government and how the wrote these ideas in the Preamble to the Constitution. We went over what some of the words meant, as some of them are unusual to our modern ears, especially to a elementary-aged student. Then Katie reminded me that School House Rock has a great song about it...

Presidential Timeline: Washington to Grant
We filled out the Presidential Timeline from Story of the World Activity Book, but you could make your own easily.
 The Three Branches of Government
We also talked about the three branches of government and make this from the template in Story of the World Activity Book.

  1. Thanks for sharing that. I think we're working on the same thing as you. We discussed the Preamble last week and did a Presidents lapbook, but we're also using Story of the World. I'll have to show my kids this video!

  2. And now that song is stuck in my head.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It means so much.
