Geography-Postcard Album: Hawaii, “The Aloha State”

This week's postcard comes from the Mason family in the sunny state of Hawaii. I found their blog, Educating Crumpet, just recently and have enjoyed it very much. They have a lot of fun doing lots of hands-on projects in homeschooling their 5-year old son.

"We live on the island of Oahu and we LOVE it. The weather is usually beautiful and there is lots to do outdoors. The wildlife and flowers are amazing."
-The Masons wrote on the back of the postcard.

For our Hawaiian dinner, we ate chicken, pineapple, sweet peppers, onions and mushroom kabobs. We marinated the chicken in pineapple juice and soy sauce. They were delicious.
We had brown rice and Hawaiian Sweet Bread.

We drank Pina-Colada milkshakes.

and our Edible Sand for dessert to remind us of all the beaches in Hawaii.

We played with volcanos.
I had planned to make leis with the boys, but we just didn't get to it.
What could be a more fun state to study?
"The landscape of Hawaii is as exotic as its history and people."

We have virtually visited 19 states (38%) and Washington DC in our postcard-geography album.

We have been having a wonderful (and educational) time making pages in our States Postcard Album, but we have only just begun. I am asking for your help. If you live in any of the below states and would like to exchange a postcard with us, please email me or leave a comment on this post and I will contact you about details. We will post your card when we do our page for that state! Thanks so much for helping us with this project. These are the states we need: Mississippi, New Jersey,Vermont, Wyoming.
