Hard Tack for the Pirate
Arguably the most commonly known pirate food is hard tack. The name comes from the British sailor slang for food. The hard part is obvious if you have ever tried to eat it. Sea voyages, being long, required food that could be kept for several years.

Pirate Hard Tack
2 cups flour1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup water
Mix together salt and flour.
Add enough water to make a very stiff dough and flatten until dough is about half an inch thick.
Cut dough into 4 inch circles with a cookie cutter or squares using just a knife.
Punch holes in the middle of each circle with a fork.
Bake at 250 degrees for 2-3 hours.
Try to eat.
