Insects in Winter

This week we looked for signs of insects: on bare tree branches, under rocks, on the backside of leaves, on or under a fallen log, in a woodpile, in the soil.
We found lots of signs of insects on our nature walk in the woods.

We drew pictures of some of the wintering insects.
My Third Student was so happy to find a moth. He caught it with his butterfly net. I have noticed that if you are focused on a particular subject in nature study, you seem to be able to notice it more around you.
