Separation of Sedimentation

First pour equal amounts of sand, dirt and pebbles into a jar. Shake and sketch. Add water. Shake and then let sit for a hour or so. Do this several times.
Sketch after it has set undisturbed overnight.  Water has the ability to separate sediments into layers.
