Galaxy Glitter Playdough

Galaxy Glitter Playdough

This idea comes from Fairy Dust Teaching and we started off with her recipe. I had remembered hearing from another blog that the recipe didn't quite work for them so I was prepared to make adjustments. As expected, the playdough turned out to be too wet for them to play with. It stuck to their fingers!

We added additional flour to the playdough until it became easier to handle. It made it have less of a sheen because the flour was added after it was finished.
With addition of some glass counters, they had fun making aliens and other such creations.

It kept them happily busy for quite some time.

When I make it again, I will add more flour to the recipe from the start. Here is the modified recipe I have jotted down:

Galaxy  Playdough
2 cups of water
1/2 tea black paste food coloring
1/4 tea. dark blue paste food coloring
1 Tbsp. of cooking oil
3 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 cup of salt
glitter (we used purple and silver)
glass counters, plastic stars (optional)

Mix liquid ingredients in a large pan and heat on medium heat.
In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients. Add the hot liquids to a mixer bowl.  Add the dry ingredients a little at a time, while the mixer is running. Mix until the dough gathers and thickens. Let it cool slightly and then knead to bring proper consistency. Store in plastic container.
