Color Surprise Playdough

Color Surprise Playdough
The boys don't play with playdough much any more, but I do make it for them every once in awhile.
I presented them with these balls of homemade playdough today...
and when they began playing with it, they were pleasantly surprised to find out that there was color hidden inside.

How to make Color Surprise Play Dough

1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon oil

In a heavy saucepan, mix together all the ingredients, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and forms a large lump or ball (approx. 3 min). Remove from heat and set on a sheet of wax or parchment paper to let cool for a bit, then knead until smooth.
To hide the color, simply separate the dough and rolled it into as many ball as you would like. Poke a hole into each ball with your finger and put a few drops of food coloring into each hole. Carefully mold the hole close. Put into plastic baggies to keep the dough from drying out.
