An Unexpected Surprise

Halloween is such a busy day for us. Between costumes, carving pumpkins and other festivities we always are super busy. This year had the sad addition of a funeral of a dear friend.
So, we never got our mail out of the mailbox until after the boys had finished trick or treating.
They brought in a mysterious white envelope marked...
We opened it to find...
a cotton plant with raw cotton! It also came with this note...

My first thought was that we could do Alabama again, but the boys thought maybe we could do the state when we talked more about the cotton crops before the Civil War, or perhaps when we did the Cotton Gin, I added.
We could also do a nature study on it since the plant is still attached.
There are so many possibilities...so I am sure you will be seeing it again!

Thank you, my friends, Karen and Kei at Homeschool Girls.
