Summer Days #46: Take A Bite Out of Summer!

Even when we try making a fierce creature like a shark, it still seems to come out cute and cuddly!

Instructions for how to make a watermelon shark can be found at the National Watermelon Promotion Board and at Sun Scholars. The National Watermelon Promotion Board has all sorts of ideas for how to carve watermelons in all kinds of really fun shapes and the instructions on how to make them. Rachel at Sun Scholars adds blue jello for water around the shark! What fun!
If you decide to make this, save your leftover watermelon in the freezer. I will show you what to make from it tomorrow!

My boys did add their own sort of twist on the idea.
Just in case the link may break in the future, here are instructions on how to make the watermelon shark, but do go to the links if you can as they have photo tutorials.

  1. Love, love, love this! (and how you said it turned out cute and cuddly despite your best efforts :) We just ate up the last of our watermelon yesterday. Time for a new one!! What fun.

  2. Simply awesome! I will need to keep this idea in the back of my head for National Watermelon Day in August...

  3. That is awesome. We don't usually have leftover watermelon, but I am interested to see what you do with it!

I tagged you in the “Irresistibly Sweet Blog” Award on my blog.

  4. I can't believe you made that! I saw it at Sun Scholars, and thought - what a lot of work. Yours looks great!

  5. I love this! I had seen it at Sun Scholars before, but I hadn't seen all the creations at the National Watermelon Promotion Board. What fun ... thanks for sharing! :) I featured your post at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/LivingMontessoriNow
