Snapshot Summary: December 2016

 December 9-15, 2016

I went for my monthly Lupron shot at Christiana Hospital...
and then Quentin, Steven and I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, and then on to a fencing lesson.
I went to my sister-in law's for a winter BFF retreat.
We relaxed, made Christmas ornaments, went to a Japanese restaurant for lunch...
went shopping and had tea at a tea shop...
played games and went to a Christmas Concert.

While I was gone away, the rest of the family got our Christmas tree.

Sam began fencing lessons, so now we have two fencers in the family!
December 15-22, 2016

Steven and I celebrated our 27th Anniversary by going to the Everett theater to see It's a Wonderful Life. It was very romantic and Christmasy at the same time! We sent the kids to see it as well on another day while we shopped.
The kids went caroling in the neighborhood on a firetruck while we were at the theater.

We had a cookie bake with Hope and made eight different kinds of cookies.
We decorated graham cracker gingerbread houses that James made.

December 23-29, 2016

The week before Christmas we finally decorated the tree, hung lights outside and set up the nativity om the porch. It is the latest we have ever been doing this.
On Christmas Eve, we had brunch at Cracker Barrel and did our Secret Santa shopping tradition. We all draw names from a hat and buy one present for each other, so the siblings don't have to buy six presents each! It is one of our favorite traditions.
The Night Before Christmas

On Christmas Eve we opened some of the presents from the grandparents, the Christmas "pajamas" (we get comfy clothes instead since they prefer to sleep in sweats rather than pjs) and the Secret Santa presents.
Christmas day was just perfectly beautiful.

We opened our presents to each other in the morning.

Even Midas enjoyed opening a present.
And so, for the middle of the day, we saw a lot of this...
and this...
and this.
In the evening, Hope and Eddie came over and we exchanged presents and had Christmas dinner together. After dinner, we enjoyed a hot chocolate bar...
and played one of the new games the kids received after dinner.
Brenda gave Quentin a bag of tiny Santas in his stocking. Look how detailed these tiny Santas are!
The next day, we enjoyed exchanging presents at Brenda's house. We had another special dinner and Brenda made us her gingerbread, which is my favorite treat.
It was very special and beautiful.
Unfortunately, the next day most of my gang came down with a stomach virus...
James at 16
which made us postpone James' 16th birthday celebration until next week.

We recovered from our illness just in time to see out the old year with a fondue party.
