November 20-26, Our Homeschool Weekly Report, days 44-47

I hope  you all had as nice a Thanksgiving as we had. Now that my children are older, they all could help in the meal preparations.
For Thanksgiving breakfast, I fashioned these turkey sweet rolls, following the example at Almost Unschoolers, but taking the easy way out by using tubes of sweet rolls from the refrigerated section.

days 44-47
As far as schoolwork...

Quentin explored several methods for solving multiplication problems. I like giving them more than one strategy for solving problems, and they also get to choose the method that makes the most sense to them. James is working on converting fractions to percentages and percentages to fractions. Alex is working on geometry.

Can  you tell which bones are male and which are female and whether they are of a child or an adult?

This week Quentin explored learning a bit more about bones. We looked at the ways to tell age and sex by looking at just the bones of a person.
Alex studied the types of rocks and sorted them into the categories of metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous.

Deer tracks at the beach.

English and History

James worked on sentence control (a fancy way of saying making sentences more interesting). Quentin is working on learning how to outline texts, using his history text.

"God Bless us, everyone."

Fine Arts

Quentin went to lots of rehearsals for A Christmas Carol. The show starts next week, so this coming week is going to be super crazy for us, with rehearsals or a show every day.

Fondue night.

How was your week?

Join me at...

  1. We're about to start on some "sentence" control in our house too. We finally played a game I've been holding on to for 5 years with the kids, and it was a lot of fun to work on vocabulary.

  2. Our week is the same as your next week. Our show is next week too.
    Blessings, Dawn

  3. Looks like a yummy feast! I didn't know deer like to go to the beach! Good luck to Quentin for his performance! I'm sure he'll steal the show!!

    1. We have lots of deer and live at the beach, so the two are bound to cross from time to time. Thank you. I will tell Quentin your good wishes. I know he steals the show in this Momma's heart. :)

  4. Break a leg, Quentin! I hope the show is a great success!

  5. Quentin will do great!

The bones... So one way my daughter's scoliosis team members conclude how long she will be in her back brace is by reading her X-rays, watching the growth plates.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It means so much.
