Advent Activities
We have been using the Picture Smart Bible Study for our Jesse Tree activities. We read the appropriate passage in the Bible and color in this portion of the worksheet.

Light one purple candle of the Advent wreath for week 1.

Get a Christmas Tree.
Jesse Tree: Creation
Read Genesis 1: 26-31.

Put up the Tree.
Jesse Tree: Adam and Eve
Read Genesis 3:1-19

Decorate the tree.

Read Genesis 6:11-14, 7: 17-18, and 8: 8 to 9:13
Topics: God always keeps his promises. Dove and the olive branch as symbols for peace.

Put out the Nativities.
Jesse Tree: Abraham
Read Genesis 12: 1-7
Topics: Obedience.
St. Barbara's Day

We eased back into school after a long illness.

History/Literature: Beowulf

I had them make their own original illustrations using Beowulf.


Medieval History: Islam

We are studying religion in the Middle Ages, beginning with Islam.



Science: Biology

We did an experiment to determine factors that affect bacterial growth.

Fine Arts: Drama

Rehearsal.

    Your tree? BEAUTIFUL! I haven't had a real tree since I lived at home. Oh how I miss them. They are so expensive here. David hates to spend the $$ on one. :(
