October 20-23, 2014: Our Homeschool Weekly Report, week 7

week 7
This was a short week because I was out of town until Sunday night, so instead of our week starting on Friday, like usual, it started on Monday. We started our second session at our homeschool co-op.

I held auditions for the play we are doing this year, The Keeper of the Tales, 1001 Arabian Nights. James and Quentin made shrunken apple heads in Crafts From the Past class.


Science

Chemistry: Compound Chemistry



World Geography

Northern India

We learned about the land, the animals, the people and the food of Northern India this week.

English

The Logic of English

  • Reviewed Phonograms: er, or, ea, sh
  • Worked on dividing words by their syllables
  • Spelling Rule: A E O U Sounds at the End of Syllables

Math

Learn Math Fast

Quentin took a unit test in math and James worked on reducing fractions.

  2. Speaking of Indian food...Malcolm and I just had a date to an Indian restaurant! I ordered cashew dumplings in a delicious sauce! Yum! I hope your out of town time was for fun. Even though you had a short week you still managed to get a lot done!

  5. Love Indian food! What is a shrunken apple? We are having an autumn birthday party for the twins this week and one of the invitees has fractured his leg so our lovely autumnal walk is out. I'm looking for autumnal crafts - would shrunken apples be one? (Sorry for my ignorance!)
