This Moment and Snapshot Summary, August 15-21, Summer Session, week 2

{this moment}
A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments at SouleMama.
Snapshot Summary, August 15-21
This week Sam worked on his geography, James worked on reading, spelling and copywork and Quentin worked on some math concepts. Some of our more hands-on moments were:

Summer Fun and Nature Walks
Katie took them to the beach to swim...

and have a picnic lunch until the bees chased them away.

We also visited a friend's pond. We explored and compared the two habitats.

We sketched for our nature study books...

and our friend, Ms Pat treated us to freshly picked figs.

The next day we went to a creek/inlet where Katie and Sam gathered some cattails...

and cooled off in the water...

and explored what this habitat had to offer as well.

On Saturday the rains began, and in between the showers, we saw a rainbow.

On Sunday the storms were so violent trees and limbs fell...

blocking one end of our street for awhile.

This week's Artie and Mike comic by Katie.

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Looks like you had a great week. Pond exploration sounds like a lot of fun.

I was just looking at the "Moving Beyond the Page" series on "Little House in the Big Woods". I love the Laura Ingalls Wilder series.

  5. These photos are just the essence of summer! I love the one of the boys playing on the beach with the boat in the background. All such great learning and exploring. What a wonderful idea to compare the beach and the inlet habitats. Oh and figs! :)
