Imagine pouring a clear drink into cups of ice and it changing to a different color in each person's cup!
This fun little activity comes from here (via Pininterest). When I saw a clear fruit punch at the store (Harvest Classic Clear Fruit Punch), I knew it would be perfect, but you can use any clear drink such as a lemon-lime soda.
All you need is some plastic cups, food coloring, ice, and any clear drink.
The day before, place 2 to 3 drops of various colors of liquid food coloring at the bottom of each cup and let dry. We did this after the boys went to bed and let it dry over night. I just gathered them up in the morning and put them aside until I was ready to use them.
Just before serving the drinks, fill each cup with ice to hide the food coloring. While each child watches, pour the drink over the ice, and the clear drink will "magically" turn into a color as it fills their cup!
This would be a great thing to do for an April Fool's surprise or as "fortune telling" fun on New Year's Eve. Just assign a meaning to each color and display the different meanings on a small sign near the drinks. For example, purple = royalty, green = wealth, yellow = long life.
