A popular draw game that has been known since about 1120 AD, domino sets and rules have undergone subtle changes as the game’s popularity spread from China to India, and from there to Europe and eventually the Americas. We have been learning many versions of dominoes from around the world.
First we looked at the patterns of the dots on the dominoes. Then we played the simplest of games, using just one straight line of dominoes, everybody matching the numbers in turn and taking from the bone pile if they could not lay one down.
There are so many versions, that when you tire of one way of playing, you can learn a new one.
I love the fact that they are simple enough that even my youngest can play, but it still holds the interest of my older children.
